Silver Spur Trails is the place for an unforgettable back country style snowshoe adventure. Enjoy the magical Silver Hills in winter, away from busy ski resorts and far from big crowds. We give you the choice of hourly tours which can be combined with a hot steaming chilly or a sweet chocolate fondue at our cozy ranch cabin.

Snowshoeing can be described as winter walking. On snowshoes you can go to places otherwise inaccessible in the snow - walks in the forests, up to cliff tops and up mountains, explore some wilderness far from the crowds. Snowshoeing allows you to walk in winter which is a great boost to fitness and an excellent way to enjoy the cold crisp mountain air.
Snowshoes are basically a larger base that you attach to your shoes to make the surface area of your foot bigger, enabling you to walk in deep snow without sinking in as much as you would otherwise. People have used such devices to travel in snow since records began. Snowshoes are very easy to walk in and after a short time you will hardly notice that you are wearing them.
There is no similarity with skiing - this is walking and not sliding. |
Wildlife abounds in winter, but is different from the summer and we will see lots of animal tracks. Binoculars are of great use. The tracks themselves tell a story and it is fascinating to see how many creatures have been active in the snow overnight. Above our heads we can hope to see eagles.

Whether you’re travelling alone or just meeting up with friends or planning to celebrate a special occasion, your time with us will leave you with lasting memories. Our friendly family operated guest ranch offers a one of a kind winter getaway. The North-Okanagan in winter is magical, the hills and the forests transformed by the blanket of white. Why not come out and discover this unique world and give yourself a break from the winter blues? This is a great winter package with Friday afternoon arrival, check-out time is Sunday afternoon with guided snowshoeing tours Saturday and Sunday.
You will enjoy our delicious home cooked meals and the smell of freshly bread baked wood stove bread. Spend the evening around a bonfire or relax in the steaming hot-tub gazing at the stars. The ranch house has two traditional wood burning stoves which ad to a warm and cozy ambiance.
Every day with us is a new adventure! Trek through old growth forests and unique hideaways. Follow wildlife tracks through a magical winter forest and stop at the top of a cliff for a great view across the valley. Enjoy some hot cider and some snacks to build up the energy before snowshoeing back to the ranch.

24-hour Snowshoeing Adventure
If you've never tried it...you should! It's fun and very easy to learn. This one night getaway is a great introduction to snowshoeing in a fun and friendly environment. Combined with a one night stay at Silver Spur Trails Wilderness Guest Ranch you will get the full experience packed into a mini vacation. The ranch is a friendly place to be and a place to relax and unwind from the stresses of the real life. Feel like a kid again as you romp and play in freshly fallen snow. Let us be your hosts!

Snowshoeing Day Adventures
Tour #1a: Misty Mountain Adventure
Snowshoe the Misty Mountain trail with great views to watch the sunset on a clear day. Have a break at the top and and warm yourself up with some hot chocolate and a snack before heading down the mountain.

Tour #1b: Misty Mountain Adventure with Chili at the Ranch
After the snowshoeing adventure and the fresh crisp air warm yourself up and relax at the rustic ranch cabin. Enjoy a hot steaming Chili with delicious wood stove baked bread followed by Cowboy coffee and desert.
Cost: $60/person
Minimum age 12
Includes snowshoes, headlamps, guided tour, hot chocolate, snacks, chili with bread, coffee and desert. Complementary Gluewine.
